Energy Efficiency Begins With Moisture Control

A structure with healthy levels of indoor relative humidity, between 40%-50%, is naturally cooler. In turn, less demand is needed from your A/C, resulting in energy savings.

CONTROL MOISTURE & SAVE MONEY

When indoor relative humidity is controlled and brought to healthy levels, between 40%-50%, your indoor environment is drier, naturally cooler and more comfortable. Dehumidification leads to less demand on your A/C.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that for every degree you raise your thermostat in the summer, you can save approximately 3% – 5% in energy costs.

With our data tracking technology, we collect before and after temperature and humidity levels in your space, often showing dramatic differences once indoor relative humidity is controlled.

Many of our customers experience energy efficiency & resulting savings between 15%-30% after an installation of a proper dehumidification solution and no longer experience a cold, clammy indoor environment.

Data Collection Results

CASE STUDY EXPLANATION

The above graph is a visual look at the results of installing commercial dehumidification in the large office complex of a Pensacola steel fabricator.

On February 3, a data collector was placed in the crawl space under the office complex.

Between February 3 and February 5, the crawl space was cleaned out of all debris and wet insulation. In addition, the space was completely encapsulated with a 6mil virgin poly barrier. This included a ground barrier as well as a perimeter wall curtain. 3 – 70 pint commercial grade dehumidifiers were installed on February 5.

During the initial data collection period, and prior to dehumidification, relative humidity under the building was 85%+. Relative humidity in this range was promoting excess moisture, fungi, and moisture damaged wood. In turn, the indoor office relative humidity was also in reading in unhealthy ranges, 68% on average. Humidity was entering the indoor space through the crawl. The encapsulations process, along with the commercial dehumidifiers, eliminated the excess moisture.

As the graphed results show on February 5, the day the machines were turned on, relative humidity began to drop significantly. By February 9, both the outdoor and indoor spaces were reading at normal, healthy levels of relative humidity. Indoor conditions went from cold and clammy to cool and comfortable, and the average temperature in the space was able to be raised approximately 6 degrees F, promoting and energy savings of nearly 18%. In addition, indoor air quality was greatly improved as musty odors were eliminated.
