Frequently Asked Questions

How does moisture affect my crawl space and my home?
In a vented, unsealed crawlspace, humidity creates excess moisture which leads to mold growth, wood rot and moisture seeking pests. A wicking effect pulls the unhealthy air from the crawlspace into the home, creating an unhealthy indoor space.
Shouldn't my AC take care of humidity in my home?
While AC removes some moisture, it is not effective or efficient in extreme sub-tropical environments, where excessive humidity is present 12-months a year. The AC is only dealing with moisture when the AC is engaged, which is not enough to keep indoor relative humidity at safe levels. Our commercial grade dehumidifiers are stand-alone units that work independently of HVAC.
My wood floors are cupping. Is that from too much moisture?
We often see cupping wood floors in home with crawl spaces. This is realted to excess moisture being wicked up from the crawl space into the home. We have had success in laying down cupping wood floors with our encapsulation & dehumidification application.
Why does my house smell musty?
Musty odors are a sign of active mold spores. Mold grows when indoor relative humidity is above 60%. To prevent mold growth, you must control the moisture levels in your home / structure.
